Bioloon, however, begins with the same natural rubber but employs a different technique to link polymer chains without harmful chemicals. The team expects the product to be commercially available within two years. Melia envisions broader applications for the material beyond balloons. "We hope to expand its use into gloves, medical latex products, clothing, and even condoms in the future," she said.
